18 April saw the official launch of "Social Volunteers' Service in Petrol Stations" for Beijing Olympic Games in the Petrol Station of SinoPec Beijing Petroleum Branch Company located within Beijing Railway Station. Petrol stations are an important incarnation of a city's image. The volunteers in petrol stations constitute an important component part of the Social Volunteers Team for Beijing Olympic Games. SinoPec Beijing Petroleum Branch Company's Social Volunteers Service Team was established in December 2007, and has now consisted of more than 100 volunteers, the average age of whom is 26.8 years and 94% of whom are holders of bachelor's degree or above. During the testing game titled "Good Luck for Beijing", such Social Volunteers Service Teams in Petrol Stations will firstly launch their service on a trial basis in five petrol stations of SinoPec. In the last 10 days of May, they will provide volunteer service in an all-sided way in 24 petrol stations designated by the Organizing Committee of Beijing Olympic Games and also cross over 500 petrol stations of Beijing. Their service items include: language interpretation/translation for foreign visitors; consultancy for domestic and foreign tourists on traffic routes and information in regard to the localities of Olympic premises, tourist establishments and shopping centers, etc.; simple medical emergency rescue for domestic and foreign tourists; verification of oil products for consumers and dissemination of oil products knowledge to consumers; promotion of the "Green Olympics" awareness among the public; service supervision by means of listening sincerely to consumers' suggestions or opinions regarding the services available in petrol stations and helping petrol station principals to handle complaints against service quality. These volunteers will continually offer their service until the happy ending of Beijing Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
