Strengthening environmental protection, contributing to Green Olympics
To meet the requirement of Green Olympics, the Company keeps intensifying its effort in environmental protection to create a better environment and to welcome the coming Olympics. On the one hand, the Company ensures the sufficient supply of high quality Beijing IV Emission Standard automobile oil products on schedule. Special plans were made for resource supply in Beijing. Upgrading project was carried out for units with capacity above 10 million tonnes in Sinopec Beijing Yanshan Company, which is responsible for providing new types of oil products. Sinopec Beijing Yanshan Company successfully put its upgraded units into production at its first attempt in June 2007, becoming the first domestic refinery for National IV Emission Standard products mass production. On 1st March, 2008, the new standard oil products became available in all Sinopec service stations in Beijing, which would significantly reduce the total emission of pollutants like CO and SO2 in the city. On the other hand, oil and vapor recovery for service stations and tank trucks were carried out in an all round way so as to reduce pollution, save resources and protect the health of both employees and customers. Sinopec Beijing Oil Products Sales Company expects to complete the upgrading of oil and vapor recovery system for its 500 service stations and 6 tank farms by the end of May 2008.
