Bearing a strong sense of social responsibility as always, the Company continued its active participation in public benefit activities and poverty alleviation and disaster relief endeavors in 2007, in return for all support and help from the public.

Since 2004, Sinopec Corp. has made a total of RMB 61.80 million donation to the Chinese Foundation for Health Express, helping cure 9,105 cataract patients in Kashi and Kuitun in Xinjiang, Jiuquan in Gansu, Yuxi in Yunnan, Hailaer in Inner Mongolia, Ping'anyi in Qinghai, Neijiang in Sichuan, Naqu in Tibet, and Xingyi in Guizhou. The Company also sponsored the establishment of a micro ophthalmic surgical-training centre and the manufacturing of a new Health Express train.

In 2004, Sinopec Corp. donated RMB 500,000 to the Health Express in Xinjiang Autonomous Region. The donation was RMB 8 million in 2005, curing more than 2,500 cataract patients in Kashi and Kuitun in Xinjiang, Jiuquan in Gansu. In 2006, the Company's donation reached RMB 10.50 million, in which RMB 8 million was used to curing more than 3,000 cataract patients in Yuxi in Yunnan, Hailaer in Inner Mongolia, Ping'anyi in Qinghai. The other RMB 2.5 million was for the establishment of a micro ophthalmic surgical-training centre in Xinjiang.

Following the three years of work in poverty relief and curing the patients, the Company's charitable activities in 2007 is as follows:
The Company made a donation of RMB 11 million to a Health Express and cured 3,371 cataract patients in Neijiang in Sichuan, Naqu in Tibet and southwest Guizhou, achieving 100% recovery rate.

The Company sponsored the establishment of Health Express-Sinopec micro ophthalmic surgical-training centre in the People's Hospital in Urumqi, Xinjiang. The centre was put into use in August 2007 and 16 people have graduated from the center.

The Company donated RMB 30 million to sponsor 'Sinopec Illumination' Health Express with more modern facilities to better help the needed, which is now under construction and expected to operate by the end of 2008.

In 2007, the Company made an additional poverty relief donation of RMB 10.60 million, in which RMB 8.60 million was for specific programs, RMB 1.30 million was for hydro projects and education investment in Yingshang, Anhui Province, RMB 140,000 was used to buy cotton-wadded quilt for disaster-hit areas, RMB 200,000 was for disaster relief in Fenghuang County. The Company also donated RMB 19.80 million to Tibet, in which RMB 18.10 million was used for constructing projects. In addition, the Company funded China Women Development Foundation's 'Mother Cistern' project with RMB 2 million, and flood relief in Yingshang County with RMB 1 million. The Company also continued its involvement in the Cultural Poverty Alleviation program initiated jointly by China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, China Commission for Cultural Poverty Alleviation and the Farmers' Daily, donating RMB 99,000 for subscription of 500 copies of the Farmers' Daily papers for four counties.

Some highlights in the Company's endeavors in poverty relief in the four counties: the RMB 3.4 million Qianma Highway in Fenghuang County was funded by the Company and benefited 7,880 people in 1,750 families living along the route. It also led to the tourism development of the Miao ethnic villages. In 2007, the revenue from tourism entrance tickets in Laodong Village alone exceeded RMB3 million and the aged villagers were able to get pension every month. Since 2005, the Company has been supporting the citrus industry in Luxi County, developing 667 hectares per year. By 2007, the total citrus acreage in Luxi has reached 13340 hectares, with an annual production of 140,000 tonnes and output value of RMB 160 million. In Yingshang County's 'Building the New Countryside' campaign, the Company funded the entire poverty relief programs in three villages, including building roads and relevant infrastructures. In Daxie Village, 14.2 hectares of land was rehabilitated and the village has put on a completely new look under the program.
