Sinopec lays emphasis on the consummation and safeguard of employees' interests by focusing on human concerns and putting people first. In 2008, an activity with the theme of "promoting harmony by deeply engaging in the people and focusing on development" was launched with leaders and cadres from the whole company setting up 14,028 grass-root contact points and pairing with 15511 finance-strapped employees. 73,200 cadres conducted investigations and research in the grass-root level and helped solve 28,170 problems concerning employees' life and work, helped create 34,231 new jobs for unemployed staffs, visited and showed concerns to 59159 employee families with special financial difficulties. This kind of activities brought closer leaders of various levels and employees, facilitated communications and enhanced cohesion and sense of belonging of employees. Employees are more active in dedicating themselves into safe production, energy saving and emission reduction and efficiency improvement, etc.
Sinopec subsidiaries all established a consultation mechanism for the labor union to coordinate and consult with corporate management on behalf of employees on issues concerning their interests, which promote a stable and harmonious development of labor relations by seeking agreement in protecting employees' lawful rights.
Sinopec subsidiaries all established corporate business publication system based on workers' congress to make democratic reviews on corporate leaders and guide employees to participate in corporate management, which will make corporate management decision more scientific and democratic.
Sinopec actively improved working conditions to enhance employees' sense of belonging and cohesion. The Company attached great importance to functions of art federation, sports association. Specified associations for music, dance, writing, drawing and calligraphy, photography, chess and card, swimming, badminton, basketball, table tennis, etc organized regular art and sports diversified activities to activate employees' spiritual life and create harmonious working atmosphere. In 2008, Sinopec held "Harmonious Sinopec-Sinopec 5th Drawing, Calligraphy and Photography Exhibition" and Sinopec "Yangtz Petrochemical Award" Employees Table Tennis Match.
