Sinopec thoroughly carried out the Energy Conservation Law, the State Council’s Decision to Step Up Energy Conservation and the State Council’s Notice of Printing Comprehensive Work Schedule for Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction in year 2008 by actively saving and replacing crude oil resources for domestic use, upgrading power grids, utilizing natural gas in a recycling way, reusing waste water, optimizing storage and transportation process, adopting low temperature heat utilization, heat complex, saving electricity and steam, desulfurizing flue gas, etc. Energy saving and emission reduction is obviously improved through strengthened management, optimized adjustment, comprehensive treatment, technology advancement and increased investment, etc. The overall energy consumption per RMB10,000 output value is down by 5.2% compared with that of year 2007, saving 3.92 million tons of coal equivalent.
