Qingdao Refining & Chemical Co.,Ltd ( QRC ) is a joint venture invested by China Petroleum Corporation (Sinopec Corp.), Shandong Trust & Investment Company and Qingdao Guoxin Industrial Company with the share of 85 percent, 10 percent and 5 percent respectively. QRC was incorporated on October 18, 2004. It is a large- sized oil refining and chemical producer.

The Company’s Phase I project is a grass roots refinery with a processing capacity of 200,000 bpd crude oil (10 million tons per year), which is the first single -train mega refinery project approved by the State, and also a strategic project developed by Sinopec for adjusting the layout of domestic oil refining industry and creating oil refining and petro-chemical industrial clusters along the China’s Bohai Bay.
 
The refinery is located at the Heavy Chemical Industrial Park of Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone with advantages of geographic location, good infrastructure and convenient traffic.

The process scheme of the refinery adopted is “delayed coking + CFB boiler +FCC” and there are 16 sets of process units, related utilities and auxiliary facilities. It is designed to process 200,000 barrels per day crude oil, the refinery covers an area of 220 hectares, and is capable of producing a variety of refined products, such as gasoline, kerosene and diesel, totally 7.08 million tons per year, and 2.03 million tons LPG, polypropylene, benzene, mixing xylene of chemical products in total per year.

And Qingdao Mega Refinery Project was planned and constructed based on the philosophy of “large size, serialization, intensive and informationization”, with features of scale economy, advanced technologies, friendly environment, scientific management and notable benefit.

Under the leadship of Sinopec Group, and through the joint efforts of the participants,         the refinery was officially put into operation on June16, 2008, and this injected a new impetus to energy requirement for the national economy and social development, as well as the Beijing Olympic Games.

In 2009, QRC deeply studied and implemented the scientific outlook on development and went towards the target of “Build the Word-Class Refining and Chemical Enterprise”.

QRC attaches great importance to the safety of production and tries to reduce costs and increase profit. In 2009, the Company processed 9.47 million tons of crude oil and made great contributions to the national economy and social development.
