Qingdao Refining & Chemical Co.,Ltd (hereinafter referred to QRC ) is a joint venture invested by China Petroleum Corporation (Sinopec Corp.), Shandong Trust & Investment Company and Qingdao Guoxin Industrial Company with the share of 85 %, 10% and 5% respectively. QRC was incorporated on October 18, 2004. It is a large sized oil refining and chemical producer.

QRC is located at the Heavy Chemical Industrial Park of Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone with advantages of geographic location, good infrastructure and convenient traffic.

Its first phase project is a grass roots refinery with a processing capacity of 10 million tons crude oil per year, which is the first single -train mega refinery project approved by our state, and also a strategic project developed by Sinopec for adjusting the layout of domestic oil refining industry and creating an oil refining and petrochemical base along the Bohai Bay in China. This project was officially put into production on June 16, 2008, which injected a new power in order to meet the requirements for the national economy and social development as well as Beijing Olympic Games.   

The process scheme of the refinery adopted is “delayed coking + CFB boiler +FCC” and there are 16 sets of process units, related utilities and auxiliary facilities. It is designed to process 200,000 barrels per day crude oil, and the refinery covers area of 220 hectares, is able to produce refined products such as gasoline, kerosene and diesel totally 7.08 million tons per year, and LPG, polypropylene, benzene, mixing xylene of chemical products totally 2.03 million tons per year. And Qingdao Mega Refinery Project was planned and constructed based on the philosophy of “large size, serialization, intensive and informationization”, with features of scale economy, advanced technologies, friendly environment and good benefit.

QRC will seriously carry out the important strategic thought of the scientific outlook on development, adhere to go a new type of industrialized road of “ resources conservation ,friendly environment and independent innovation, and make best efforts to realize sustainable and effective development within Sinopec’s and Shandong Provincial entire development framework, and will build a large sized oil refining and  petrochemical base, featuring “first class management, benefit in leading position ,friendly environment and human harmony”, and QRC will make new contributions to the national economy and social development.
