Sinopec Zhongyuan Petrochemical Corp. Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "ZPC") had been completed and put into operation in July 1996. ZPC’s registered capital is RMB 2.4 billion, for which Sinopec Corp. shares the 93.51% and Henan province shares the 6.49%.
ZPC’s initial capacity consisted of 140kt/y ethylene plant, 120kt/y polyethylene plant and 40kt/y polypropylene plant. The  total investment was  RMB 4.933 billion. After the first technology innovation and improvement in 2000, the capacity of ethylene plant was  increased to 180kt/y, polyethylene plant to 200kt/y and polypropylene plant to 60kt/y. Furthermore, ZPC also has by-products deep processing plants such as  gasolene hydrogenation, benzene abstraction, hydrogen producing, 1-butene, OCC(Olefin Catalytic Cracking to make propylene). The products are polyethylene, polypropylene, benzene, 1-butene and MTBE, etc.
