Sinopec Jinan Company (hereinafter referred to as Jinan Company) is in Lixia District of Jinan City, Shandong Province, covering an area of 2.4 km2. The company is located between Shengli and Zhongyuan Oil Fields with a private railway connecting to Jiaoji Railway. There is a Jiwang highway in the south of the factory and a Jiqing Expressway in the north. It has very good geographical conditions with very convenient traffic.
Jinan Company was set up in 1971 and was put into production in 1975. In August 2000, its major business was incorporated in SINOPEC Corp. and became Sinopec Jinan Company according to China Petrochemical Corporation reorganization and restructuring programme. SINOPEC Corporation listed on Stock Markets at home and abroad.
With a crude oil processing capacity of 5 million tons a year, SINOPEC Jinan Company has 32 sets of major production units and auxiliary facilities, including atmospheric vacuum distillation, heavy oil catalytic cracking, delayed coking, wax oil deep catalytic cracking, naphtha catalytic reforming, diesel hydrofining, propane deasphalting, furfural refining, benzol-ketone dewaxing, gas fractionation, polypropylene and so on. Jinan Company can produce 50 kinds of products .According to the data in 2009, its major products gasoline has an output of 1065.6kt, diesel 1552.0kt, naphtha41.8kt, LPG211.4kt, lube base oil 72.6kt, petroleum coke 133.5kt, and polypropylene96.8 kt.
Jinan Company persists in the principle of "quality first, customer first". It got ISO9002 quality system certificate (1994 version) in 1999 and got ISO9002 quality system certificate (2000 version) in 2001. All products have been 100% up to standards since the founding of the factory. Moreover , in order to improve products towards high grade and cleanness, the company keeps improving product-refining depth by constructing a 1.2Mt/a naphtha sweetening plant, a 0.3Mt/a LPG sweetening plant, a 0.4Mt/a LPG desulphuration plant, a 0.6Mt/a diesel hydrofining plant, a 1.2Mt/a diesel hydrofining plant, , a 0.9Mt/a S-Zorb plant, a 0.125Mt/a clay finishing plant and etc. All these means have ensured the quality of those major products such as gasoline, diesel, LPG, lubricating oil and so on.
Firmly persisting in the principle of promoting production and environmental protection simultaneously while expanding its production, Jinan Company has built HSE system and established an environmental protection committee with the factory head or manager as director, the enterprise set up and improved a whole set of efficient management system for environmental protection, which forcefully irritated and restrained every staff to work in conformity with the requirements of environmental protection. The company takes vigorous actions to adopt new technologies of clean production. Focusing on technical transformation, it keeps employing new technologies and new equipments to reduce wastes discharge and raise products quality. It makes a comprehensive utilization of wastes. Jinan Company rigorously enforces the stipulation of starting environmental protection project simultaneously with the main part of the construction project from beginning. It manages to prevent pollution before instead of treating pollution afterward.
In the course of dozens of year’s development, Jinan Company has paid great attention to scientific and technical advancement and has been persisting in pushing technical advancement forward mainly with technological development and transformation. Jinan Company has been taken the road to keep on further self-development. During these years, it has won 32 items of scientific and technical advancement prizes from the state, the ministry and the province. Among which it won 2 items of first prize from the state,1 item of top grade prize, 4 items of first prizes, 13 items of second prizes and 11 items of third prizes from the ministry, and 1 item of third prize from the province.
Jinan Company paid more attention to the application of information technologies. According to the unified plan of SINOPEC, while installing DCS computer-control over its major production plants, Jinan Company built ERP system and adopted advanced information management systems such as MES, ORION and Complete Budget Monitor System one after the other, which managed its production information, data and science automatically with the help of the computers and gave room for rapid growth in technology in the enterprise.
