SINOPEC Jiujiang Company , (hereinafter referred to as the Company) is located in the eastern suburb of Jiujiang City, on the northern bank of the Yangtze River, to the south of Mountain Lushan and to the east of Boyang Lake, It covers the area of 4.2 square km. It is the only large scale petrochemical enterprise in Jiangxi Province. It has excellent geographic advantage and therefore has convenient transportation facilities. Its plants are only 1km away from the Yangtze River. 7 wharves owned by the Company with berthing capacity of 5000 tons for each are arranged along the Yangtze River and opened for foreign barges. All the wharves are opened for foreign barges. Crude oil is mainly pipelined to the Company through Yizheng –changling pipeline . Products can be also distributed by waterway, upstream to Sichuan, Hunan, Hubei Province, downstream to Anhui, Jiangsu, Shanghai, etc. and even to Chinas coastal provinces and everywhere in the world.The Companys own railway is connected to national rail arteries such as Wuhan-Jiujiang, Beijing-Kowloon, Hefei-Jiujiang, etc and products can be distributed through such rail network to everywhere in China.Jiujiang-Nanchan-Zhangshu product pipieline is capable in 2008.

The Company was established on the basis of Jiujiang Petrochemical Complex, SINOPEC Group under strategic guidance of SINOPEC’s re-organization. Jiujiang Refinery, the predecessor of Jiujiang Petrochemical Complex, was approved construction by the Government in 1975. It was put into operation in October of 1980 , in accordance with the requirement of SINOPEC Corp.s reforming and reorganizing, jiujiang Company is established and derived from the main body of original  Petrochemical Complex . The company is one of the 512 main enterprises in the country which now owns the fixed asset of 604.758 millions yuan.It has three branch companies including refinery, fertilizer and chemicals , .
The Company has annual capacity of processing 5 million tons crude oil, producing 100 thousand tons PP, 400 thousand tons ammonia and 520 thousand tons urea. There total 48 units and most of them have top level of technology compared to similar domestic units. Fertilizer plant including ammonia and urea units is one of three most advanced fertilizer plants in China, especially most of its key process, equipment and instrument control system are in high technical level and it is of high operation flexibility, low energy consuming and high automation. The Company has the same level of technology as others of forein countries.and it was awarded two prizes of technical development by state and the prizers by SINOPEC and JiangXi province.

It passed certification of ISO9002 international quality certification system on April 6th, 1999,and passed certification of ISO9001: 2000international quality certification conversion system on February 10th  2003. HSE quality management system went into operation and issued outside, It also passed certification of”AAA” in the action of”SINOPEC enterprise standardization behavior. It means its level of enterprise management is same as international ones. The computer network has established in product  districts  and offices. It has basically achieved informational administration in production and management.
In 2007, the company  processed crude oil of 4.03 million tons, polypropene products 113 thousand tons, and urea 446 thousand tons .

Refining Business

At present, Main petrochemical processing units of jiujiang Company have 2 ADV units(5 million t/a  and 1.5 million t/a of ADV unit), 2 FCC units of 1 million t/a , 1 delayed coking unit of 1 million t/a ,a 1.2 million t/a unit of gasoline & diesel hydrorefining ,2 gas fractionation units(300,000 t/a and 160,000 t/a ), 300,thansands t/a Catalytic RefIorming unit,, 600,000 t/a diesel hydrorefining unit , 100thousands t/a aromatic extraction unit ,30 thousands t/a sulfur recover plant. 20 thousands t/a MTBE unit , it processed 4.03million tons of crude oil in 2007.
The Company has 6 railway load/unload ports that can meet requirement of 2000kt products outlet or raw material and equipment inlet and one highway load port for heavy oil. For waterway, the Company has No.1 wharf that has 6 berths and No.2 wharf that has 4 berths and can meet requirement of 5000kt crude oil inlet and 4000kt processed oil outlet. Both railway and waterway can meet requirement of 600kt prilled urea and 120kt PP outlet.

The Company has main products of 32 varieties and 50 brands incruding Gasoline, kerosene, diesel, asphalt naphtha, LPG£¬PP , urea etc. Of  which “jianghai” brand urea acquired the famous brand product in the “1999 Chinese and international agriculture exposition ” and the title of national non-inspection product .Lead-free vehicle gasoline,PP, light diesel ,urea ,LPG are awarded the Jiangxi provincial famous brand product,.The “jianghai” Brand is definited as the famouse brand in Jiangxi.

Chemical Business

Chemical units in the Company consist of 0.30×106 MTPY ammonia unit, 0.52×106 MTPY urea unit and 0.1×106 MTPY PP unit.
Fertilizer plant was put into operation in 1996. Shell Residue Gasification Process is applied on ammonia unit and Snam Ammonia Strip Process is applied on urea unit which came into full production capacity period .The urea pruducts were exported to Malaysia  Vietnan and other countries in 2002 and exported to the United States.

PP unit was designed by BPEC.It came to construction in 1996 and put into operation in 1998 and has the  capacity of  120,000 t/y . Original imported additives have been replaced by domestic N type and DQ type additives. It caused lower cost. The unit can produce 25 brands of which, 8 brands are in production,,totally 1.13 million tons in 2007.
