There are more than 60 kinds of major products such as gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, naphtha, heavy oil, solvent oil, LPG, road asphalt, petroleum coke, sulphur, purified benzene, toluene, xylene, styrene, butadiene, propane, butane, hexane oil, gas for industrial use etc. Solid plastic products mainly consist of 3 categories in terms of polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene with over 160 grades. The sales network covers the whole South China area; some of the products are exported to Hong Kong, Macao and Southeast Asian countries. Pass rate of ex-factory products has been 100% while pass rate for random checks by different level of qualification exams has also been 100%. The products of Guangzhou Company are enjoying high reputation among customers. Quality & management systems such as ERP, ISO9000, HSE and TNPM are implemented in all-round manner in the company.
Guangzhou Company sticks to taking the road of environmental protection and sustainable development, adhering to the principle of equal importance for production, construction and environmental protection. As a result, the company is awarded the titles of Guangdong Provincial Advanced Environmental Protection Unit and Garden - Like Factory in Guangzhou City with all emissions being controlled within the national standards.
In 2007, crude oil processing capacity of Guangzhou Company exceeded 10 million tons for the first time; processed 10.57 million tons of crude oil and produced10,000 tons of ethylene. The refining revamp & expansion project of Guangzhou Company were fully completed and the commissioning was a big success. The company is now ranked as the enterprise of being capable of processing over 10 million ton crude per year with annual crude processing capacity and annual further processing capacity being upgraded to 15 million and 13 million tons respectively The expansion of crude oil jetty in Huizhou port upgraded to 300,000 ton grade and relevant sea-route dredging to accommodate 250,000 ton grade VLCC, the CFB project as well as the adaptability revamp of the crude distillation unit 1 to process sour crude were completed and put into operation. Construction of the 1 million ton catalytic reforming complex unit started. At present, Guangzhou Company is speeding up to improve the supporting refining scheme which is suitable for further processing 13 million tons crude, and also is actively conducting the preparatory work of the Sino-Kuwait Nansha Petrochemical Joint Venture Project.

Refining
SINOPEC Guangzhou Company is now equipped with 50 major units for oil refining, with an annual further processing capacity of 13 million tons. All major units are controlled by DCS, among which three are under APC operation mode.
A major process flow of A/V Distillation-Cat Cracking-Delayed Coking is adopted for crude oil processing to achieve the purpose of maximizing gasoline, diesel and jet fuel while satisfying feedstock for ethylene cracking. The overall process flow is optimized with mutual supply between refining and chemical units.
Clean production units such as hydrocracking, FCC, CCR platforming, MTBE and alkylation etc. can produce gasoline ( #90, #93, #95, #97, #98 and #99 ) and diesel meeting national environmental protection standard. The hydrorefining technology for distillate oil owned by the company can be used to treat gasoline, jet fuel and diesel and to produce and export #3 jet fuel up to international standard. High quality diesel meeting national new standard for clean fuels with less than 0.2% sulphur was available for supply in 2001. Starting from 2007, gasoline and diesel meeting national standard III could be produced.
There are three units for heavy oil processing - delayed coking, visbreaking and solvent deasphalting which can produce petroleum coke, fuel oil and high-grade road asphalt meeting national standard. Process flow and product slate can be flexibly adjusted per market demand.
Major environmental protection units include gas desulphurization, sulphur recovery, waste water stripping and waste water treatment with all environmental protection indexes meeting local and national standards.
Crude oil & oil product storage and transportation: crude oil is all transferred from the Huizhou GPC Jetty to the company via a 170-kilometre long crude oil transmission pipeline. Oil tanker above 250, 000 ton grade can directly dock at the jetty. The crude oil storage capacity at the jetty is 600,000 m3, the capacity of land crude oil storage tank at Daya Bay is 200,000 m3 and the crude oil storage capacity inside the plant is 420,000 m3. There are 258,800 m3 of intermediates storage tanks and 390,540 m3 of liquid products storage tanks inside the company. Gasoline, diesel and fuel oil can also be delivered to customers via road, water and railway transportation besides being transferred through pipelines directly to the customer’s storage tanks such as Sinopec Guangdong Petroleum Company and Huangpu Power Plant. Over 3 million tons of gasoline, 5 million tons of diesel and 1.5million tons of fuel oil are delivered to customers each year.
Chemical
Ethylene production annual capacity is 200,000 tons and the following main units are equipped.
Ethylene cracking unit (including gasoline hydrogenation): it is a complete set of imported technology with Stone & Webster licensed process, contracted and designed by Tecnimont, Italy. The feedstock to the unit is naphtha and polymerization-grade ethylene of 150,000 tons/year, polymerization-grade propylene of 75,600 tons/year can be produced.
Butadiene extraction unit: adopting GPB process, licensed by Nippon Zeon, using DMF as solvent by going through two stage of extracting rectification and two stage of typical rectification, high purity of butadiene is extracted from the pyrolysis C4 distillates. The annual design capacity is 35,000 tons.
Aromatics extraction unit: The feed to the unit is hydro treated pyrolysis gasoline from ethylene cracking unit for producing high purity benzene, toluene and xylene. The annual design capacity is 100,000 tons.
Polyethylene unit: It was contracted by Japan Toyo Engineering (TEC), using low pressure gas phase fluidization bed technology from Union Carbide Co. US (UCC) and IFP French technology for butene-1 purpose. Three types of catalysts with Cr family and Ti family are used to produce 108 grades of homopolymer and copolymer products. The annual design capacity is 200,000 tons. At the beginning of year 2003, the company took the initiative to use slurry catalyst in China to develop and produce three grades of high density polyethylene products 6092, 8910 and 8916 based on four grades of polyethylene products 7012, 7020,2076 and 7144.
Polypropylene units A and B: Japanese Mitsui Oil & Chemical Co. HYPOL process bulk technology with feature of high efficiency TK-catalyst, no solvent and liquid & gas phase flow arrangement is used for both units. It can produce homopolymer, random copolymer and impact copolymer polypropylene products of 39 grades. The annual design capacity for polypropylene unit A is 100,000 tons and that for unit B is 40,000 tons (upgraded to 60,000 tons/year after being revamped).
Styrene unit: it is a complete set of equipment imported from BADGAR, U.S.A, adopting MOBIL/BADGAR process to produce ethyl benzene (benzene and ethylene gas-phase process), and FINA/BADGAR process to produce styrene (ethyl benzene dehydrogenation process). BADGAR is both licensor and contractor. The annual design capacity is 80,000 tons. It produces styrene monomer for polystyrene purpose.
Polystyrene unit: use continuous bulk polystyrene process licensed from FINA to produce general-purpose polystyrene resin (GPPS) and high impact polystyrene (HIPS). The annual design capacity is 50,000 tons.
