SINOPEC Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company

Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company (hereinafter is abbreviated as ZRCC) is one of the flagship enterprises affiliated to Sinopec. With Zhejiang Refinery as its predecessor that dates back to 1975, the Company was restructured into Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd. and became listed on Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 1994. Responding to the integrated strategic plan of Sinopec, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co., Ltd. revoked its listing position in March, 2006 and in September of the same year, incorporated the Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company.
Over the past thirty-six years, following a philosophy of “Grow in Harmony, Share the Future”, taking the good opportunity of developing costal refining and chemical enterprises  and making full use of the favorable geographic location of Ningbo, Zhejiang province and the developed market in East China area, ZRCC has been maintaining constant pioneering, progressing, reforming and innovating, making it grow into an enterprise with the largest scale, leading profit and the strongest competitiveness in the country out of a small refinery of 2.5 million tpa, and it is marching forward to a world scale refining and chemical integration pace-setting enterprise from a China’s pace-setting
With a comprehensive crude oil processing capacity of 23 million tpa, ethylene capacity of 1 million tpa, a deep water sea jetty with over 45 million tons of annual handling capacity and a tankage of over 3.3 million cubic meters, ZRCC is, for China, the largest base for crude oil processing, for imported crude oil processing and sour crude oil processing, an oil products export base as well as one of the major crude oil distribution bases. In 2010, ZRCC stably transformed from traditional refining enterprise to refining-chemical integrated enterprise, from No.1 refining enterprise to No.1 refining-chemical integrated enterprise.
ZRCC boasts its various and comprehensive processing methods and supporting facilities, close combination between refining and chemicals, and capability of deep and inferior crude processing. All production plants are equipped with DCS control and major plants are operated with APC. In particular, the plants, such as 10 MTA CDU/VDU, 3 MTA FCC, 1 MTA ethylene unit,650 KTA ethylene oxide/ glycol, 450 KTA Polyethylene unit and 410 t/h CFB boilers, are leading refining, chemical and cogeneration units in China with respect to scale and technology, representing the advanced level in China’s refining industry.

ZRCC commits itself to providing clean products for the society, producing intermediate petrochemical products to drive down-stream industry development, developing a variety of high-end petrochemicals. The types of its refining and chemical products are up to more than 50, covering vehicle gasoline with different grades, diesel, 3# jet fuel, LPG, road asphalt, benzene, butadiene, ethylene oxide, ethylene glycol, polypropylene resin, polyethylene resin, etc. Particularly, gasoline, 3# jet fuel and diesel are exported to countries such as US, Japan, India, Korea, Singapore and regions such as Taiwan and Hong Kong SAR. Meanwhile, ZRCC was awarded to supply “East Sea brand” asphalt to Shanghai F1 Track, World Exposition pavilions, the world’s largest tunnel-bridge and high-speed rail, and regions like America and Australia. ZRCC successfully supplied Euro ultra low sulphur diesel to Hongkong market, achieving the first record of domestic diesel entry into Hongkong market. With its developed high-end resin products, such as high melt strength polypropylene and high melt index polypropylene fiber, ZRCC has acquired a leading position in the high-end chemical market.
ZRCC gives top priority to fulfilling its social responsibility and attaches importance to “intrinsic safety”. ZRCC insists on implementing environmental and safe works from sources, fully implementing internal cycling economy and actively constructing the resource conservation and environmental friendly enterprises for many years. Major indexes of energy conservation and emission reduction maintain the industrial leading position in China, some of which even meet international advanced level. ZRCC was awarded one out of the 8 earliest National Environmental-Friendly Enterprises, won China Environment Prize and was successively honored as China’s Leading Enterprise for Energy Conservation & Emission Reduction and Enterprise with Outstanding Contribution in the Development of Low Carbon Economy, etc.
ZRCC seeks coordinated development of internal optimization and external expansion, which forms a ZRCC-style “new SOE” management mode centered on documental management. At the same time, ZRCC makes great efforts to propel the integration of ERP System with Business Process Management System and MES System, and commits itself to establishing an integrated platform of auxiliary decision-making and administration for production management, so as to achieve a high efficient and continuously innovative management.
In 2010, under the leadership of SINOPEC, ZRCC, centering on “excelling in the performances” and “emulate, learn fromcatch up with, help and in turn surpass each other”activities, tried to be the first, and made outstanding achievements. The total crude processing volume of 2010 broke through 20,000,000 tonnes, and reached 20,850,000 tonnes, which is a new record in China refining history. The 1 million ton/year ethylene project was fully completed and successfully started up at the first try. New plant operation “one steady, four optimized” moved forward in solid steps. The optimization of refining-chemical integration created a “ZRCC speed”. Meanwhile, internal management and staff quality were continuously improved, hence “ZRCC in harmony” takes on a new look.
