Sinopec Maoming Company(referred to as Maoming Branch in short) was founded in 1955 as one of the 156 key projects in the national 1st Five-year Plan.  After development of more than 50 years, it claims now 70 leading refining and chemical production plants, with a crude processing capacity of 13.5 million MT/Y and an ethylene production capacity of 1 million MT/Y, as well as complete supporting systems of power supply, port handling, railway transport, crude and product oil transfer pipelines and a 300,000 tonnage SBM offshore crude loading and unloading system. It mainly makes 30-odd types of products including gasoline, kerosene, diesel oil, lube oil, solvent oil, naphtha, asphalt, ethylene, toluene, PP, ethylene glycol, styrene, SBL and SBS.

In the five decades, Maoming Branch has been making significant contribution to the local and state economic and social development by cumulatively processing crude oil of 272 million tons and producing ethylene of 6.81 million tons. Maoming Branch has successively won a pile of honorable titles including national “May 1st Labor Merit Certificate”, “National Civilized Unit”, “National Advanced Unit of Openness of Factory Affairs and Democratic Management”, “National Model Enterprise of Harmonious Labor Relations” and “Guangdong Meritorious Enterprise for PRC 60th Anniversary”. In 2007, the company set a target, “Build up a Reputable Enterprise”, which is to turn Sinopec Maoming Branch into a super enterprise with large operation scale, big profit and lots of talents, through hardworking of 3 to 5 years based on the current glory.

2009 is “the Year of Fine Management for Profit” of Maoming Branch. Maoming Branch aimed at “Zero Accident in Safety and Environmental Protection and Maximization in Economic Benefits”.  Maoming Branch carried out management more professionally, more considerately and more carefully, proactively corresponding to the international financial crisis, which resulted in upgrading of all-round performances.  It processed crude oil 12.98 million tons and made oil products 12.72 million tons.  The ethylene production 1.06 million tons brushed the domestic record of annual ethylene production.  The chemical production topped 3 million tons, 13.44% higher year-on-year. Being ranked top 1 profit maker in 3 successive years among Sinopec refining and chemical enterprises, Maoming Branch was awarded  “2009 National Model State-owned Enterprise” by State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.
