SINOPEC Shanghai Gaoqiao Branch (hereinafter referred to as Gaoqiao Branch) was set up on the date of January 27th of 2000, by reorganization of the refinery, chmical division and supplying & marketing section of former Shanghai Gaoqiao Petrochemical Corporation. Gaoqiao Branch is located in Shanghai Pudong New District, facing Huangpu River to the west and near Wusong Mouth to the north, thus enjoying both land and water transportation convenience and being an important production and export base of China’s petroleum and petrochemical industry. Occupying an area of 3.4 million square meters, Gaoqiao Branch has a crude processing capacity of 11 million tons per year, with main products including gasoline, jet fuel, diesel fuel, lube stock, wax, synthetic rubbers, organic chemicals and plastics etc. 2008 sales revenue of the Branch reached 53 billion RMBY, and the Branch owned 12 billion RMBY of fixed assets. Currently Gaoqiao Branch operates 64 production units in total, and the main capacities are named as following: 11.3 Mt/a of Crude Distillation; 2.9Mt/a of FCC; 600kt/a of CCR; 800kt/a of Jet Fuel Hydro-treating; 4.8Mt/a of Gasoline & Diesel Hydro-treating; 1.4Mt/a of Hydro-cracking; 1.4Mt/a of Delayed Coking; 300kt/a of Lube Stock Hydrogenation; 120kt/a of PBR; 320kt/a of Phenol & Acetone; 100kt/a of LCBR & SSBR and 200kt/a of ABS Resin.

Gaoqiao Branch is making great efforts in scientific and technology innovations. More than 100 research & study achievements have been awarded with prizes for science & technology progress and/or new products by the state, Shanghai Municipality and SINOPEC.

Gaoqiao Branch is adhering to development by safe and clean manners, to ensure the harmony between enterprise and surrounding communities and environment. The Branch has practiced a HSE management system since June 1st 2004. By sticking on the HSE concept, Gaoqiao has realized zero working/safety/environment accident for successive years. More than 20 plants and/or products of fading technology or higher pollution were closed in the past two decades. Gaoqiao Branch has invested 225 million RMBY cumulatively since 2001 to accomplish 82 safety and environment potential hazard control & treatment.

Gaoqiao Branch is carrying out active foreign cooperation and communication, has set up joint ventures with world famous companies including BASF of Germany, Caltex of USA, Ciba of Swiss, SK of Korea and Mitsui Chemical of Japan etc.

Gaoqiao Branch pursues after the approach of “Flying by 2 Wings of Gaoqiao Relocation & Caojing Construction” and is increasing investment in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park (SCIP), Caojing. A series of wholly owned or JV projects including 200kt/a of phenol/acetone, 100kt/a of LCBR & SSBR, 200kt/a of ABS and 120kt/a Bisphenol-A has been brought on-stream and more are planned to start construction in near future.
