Qilu Petrochemical Corporation, with an area of 24.8 square kilometers, sits in Linzi, Zibo city of Shandong province, neighboring Jinan city, the provincial capital 120 kilometers in the west, linked to Qingdao city, the eastern coastal city, 200 kilometers, Shengli Oil field 90 kilometers in the north. Qilu Petrochemical Corporation breaks into two parts: Sinopec Ltd. Qilu Branch, short for Qilu Branch and Sinopec Asset Management Corporation Qilu Petrochemical Branch Company, short for Qilu Petrochemical Branch.
Qilu Petrochemical Corporation was built in 1966. It got refinery in 1960s, synthetic rubber and fertilizer in 1970s, 300,000 tons per year ethylene in 1980s and capacity expanding work in 1990s. After emerging companies of chemical fiber and petrochemical production in Zibo city in 1997, it became an integrated producer of oil, chemical, fiber. When stepping into a century, it achieved a breakthrough in economic aggregate and performance through project modification in 10million tons per year refinery and 800,000 tons per year ethylene.
Qilu Petrochemical Corporation owns 112 sets of large-scale oil and petrochemical producing units which yield over 120sorts of petrochemical produce. Over 10 million tons per year refinery capacity grants it among largest base for high-sulfer-high-acid crude processing. A single ethylene unit of 800,000 tons per year production tops the domestic producers in its field. Further, Qilu Petrochemical Corporation produces 1.1million tons per year synthetic resin, 450,000 tons per year caustic soda, 170,000 tons per year rubber, 450,000 tons per year benzene group, 435,000 tons per year alcohol group. Qilu Petrochemical Corporation manages its business in four parts: refining, petrochemical production, research and design, community services.
On refining, the corporation has got 3 crude units, 2 FCC units,2 delayed coking units, along as heavy oil hydrogenation, continuous reforming and hydrocracking units, conclusively over 20 of them. The corporation is capable of processing 10 million tons crude every year. Major products include high-grade clean petroleum, clean diesel, naphtha, jet fuel, bitumen, coke, LPG and sulfur, totally numbering 40 kinds. Naphtha produced directly serves for ethylene production.
On petrochemical production, ethylene, plastics, chlor-alkali, rubber, butanol-2EH and acrolon units are in their position. Ethylene cracking plant consumes naphtha and hydrocracking tail oil from refining process to produce ethylene and propylene which will serve as source to produce synthetic resin, rubber, butanol-2EH and synthetic fiber. Plastics products in over 60 grades mainly serve as sources in plastics processing industry to produce agricultural-use film, packing film, vacuum vessel, pipe and cable. Chlor-alkali plants conceive the biggest PVC production in China, rubber production capacity ranks second in China while butanol-2EH capacity marks the biggest in Asia. Thermoelectrity complex in the corporation is responsible to provide electricity, steam and desalt water to production areas, annually generating 3.8billion kilowatt-hour and 7.5million tons of steam.
The corporation excels in scientific innovation, application and competition. It set a corporate post-doctorate station in 2002 at approval of Personnel Ministry of China. It masters and applies world- leading petrochemical technology as well as patent technology in Chinese petrochemical industry. It takes only five to six years to acquire 93 licenses and have 16 scientific researches awarded by the nation. Now licensed with 134 patents, the corporation innovates sulfur recycling, whole-set catalyst and acrylonitrile production, large-scale independent styrene production, refinery gas isotherm hydrogenation, crude oil dimulsification under ultra-sonic, light hydrocarbon etherification in the first place in China.
Product Sale:
In 2007, the corporation processed10.5535 million tons crude, produced 846800 ethylene, 1.1625 million tons of plastics, 212600 ton synthetic rubber, 518700 ton caustic soda, 337900 butanol-2EH and generated 3.89billion kilowatt-hour electricity.
