SINOPEC East China Company (East China Company for short) is an experienced company in oil and gas exploration and production. The headquarter is located in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province, which has a long history as being capital of six dynasties as well as unique geographical location.
East China Company has more than 7 subsidiaries. They are located in Nanjing, Taizhou of Jiangsu Province and Changchun of Jilin Province. The main production areas are located in Jiangsu, northeast, northwest, south China and some foreign countries. A lot of production bases have been established in Taizhou of Jiangsu Province, Changchun of Jilin Province, heshun of Shanxi Province, and some overseas marketing, for example, Gabon.
We found more than 40 oil & gas fields in Jiangsu area after the discovery in SU 20 well in 1970. That is the first breakthrough in oil exploration history of Jiangsu Province. Now East China Company is in charge of production of 20 oil & gas fields among those, just like Caoshe, Zhoucheng, Taixing. From the 1990s of last century, we had changed our mind and extended our vision. We began to prospect for oil & gas in South Songliao area beyond Jiangsu area. After 10 years of hard working, we made another breakthrough in oil & gas exploration at Yaoyingtai of South Songliao area in 2003. In 2005, we achieved an important milestone by discovering a large oil & gas field with hundreds of millions of tons OOIP in depression and fault level of Yaoyingtai. During the reorganization of SINOPEC in 2008, we began to seek opportunities in areas of new energy which included coal-bed methane, shale gas, oil shale, flammable ice, and uranium mine. We gradually built a professional team of SINOPEC in unconventional oil and gas exploration and production after investing several projects in Shanxi, Guizhou, Chongqing, Anhui.
The fundamental development strategies of East China Petroleum Bureau are devote major efforts to develop Oil & Gas exploration and production, further strengthen and advance petroleum engineering service, and steadily expand mining exploitation. Under these strategies, we keep learning from other competitors; focus on the way with innovation. After unremitting tries and practices, we finally picked up the specific exploiting and producing technologies for complex ultra-mini fault block oilfield and special construction oilfield with low porous, low permeable and low abundance rock. Pervasively applied 3D seismic prospecting, directional wells, cluster wells, horizontal wells, slim hole technology with oriented window and sidetracking, sidetracking horizontal wells, fine description of reservoir, distributing of remaining oil, oil/gas reservoir protection, hydraulic adding sand fracture reform, layer waterflood, deep profile controlling, carbon dioxide huff and puff process, and EOR with injection WPS, we improved reserves producing percentage, increased EOR, and controlled natural decline rate and composite decline rate. Small oilfield in North Jiangsu area still keeps steady increasing of crude oil production after several decades of exploitation.
Talent people and technology are the vital to a company’s development and competence build up. To meet the requirement of developing the oil & gas exploration and production, we paid special attention on training employees and recruit talents. Established long term partnership with some universities, we send a lot of employees to Northwest University, China Geography University, Petroleum University and Nanjing University for kinds of vocational education and technician training. At the same time, we recruit many experts in the field of petroleum exploration and production from other companies to build up the technical team and promote technological development. In addition, we organize academic exchange conferences every year, invite famous experts to give lectures, and encourage joint research between technicians and workers to resolve the problem emerging from the production process.
Actively responding to the development strategy of SINOPEC about oil & gas resource, we persistently develop domestic as well as international market in oil & gas exploration and production field. In China, the most important parts of our job are exploration and production of CBM & shale gas and prospective study in down Yangtze area of South China. Abroad, for actively supporting the “go abroad” strategy of SINOPEC, we kicked off the technical support project in Gabon. We are starting the third undertaking that put the main emphasis on developing unconventional oil & gas resource for comprehensively implementing the spirit of SINOPEC Group Work Meeting. We are generally surveying the unconventional oil & gas resource of SINOPEC to search for the storage law of unconventional oil & gas resource and the solution for solving technical problems in exploration and production of unconventional oil & gas resource. To realize sustainable and harmonious development of our company, we sincerely hope that we can cooperate with any party in this industry to achieve win-win situation by keeping development and innovation together.
