SINOPEC Shanghai Offshore Oil & Gas Company

SINOPEC Shanghai Offshore Oil & Gas Company (hereinafter referred as “Shanghai Offshore Oil & Gas Company”), with rich experiences in offshore oil and gas exploration and controlling certain developing technique, is engaged especially in offshore oil and gas exploration and development.

Shanghai Offshore Oil & Gas Company has three main business scopes: First, on behalf of SINOPEC, playing a significant role in the management including exploration evaluation research, development construction and  sale of Xihu Project, defending SINOPEC’s shareholder rights in two cooperation projects i.e. Xihu Project and Pinghu Project; the Second is undertaking an autonomous exploration in the regions in either the East China Sea, the South China Sea and the Yellow Sea for the purpose of finding new oil and gas field to establish autonomous developing base as soon as possible; the Third is undertaking the research work on appraisal of the oversea oil and gas resources exploration and development project.

Shanghai Offshore Oil & Gas Company owns twelve marine autonomous exploration blocks in about 56748km2 that located in East China Sea Basin, Qiongdongnan Basin and Beibu Gulf Basin. Jointly shared with China National Offshore Oil Corporation, Shanghai Offshore Oil & Gas Company also owns thirteen prospecting blocks and two exploiting blocks located in East China Sea Shelf Basin, Xihu Trough covering 37765km2. Up to the end of year 2009, Shanghai Offshore Oil & Gas Company owns a share of proven geological reserve of 916.1 million ton of oil and 316.7 hundred million cubic meter of gas, and 46 exploring wells and appraisal wells in total had been drilled which hit a 60% more success rate.

On the basis of the SINOPEC policy “keep stable in the east, speed up in the west, develop in the south and make a great breakthrough on offshore”, Shanghai Offshore Oil & Gas Company has successfully carried out a 3D seismic exploration project in Qiongdongnan deep sea prospecting block, the better data acquisition quality meets the designing requirements, preliminary process reveals a good Oil & Gas prospects in this region. The company also conducted the pilot exploration project of  SINOPEC “Exploration Activity Tracking and Target-zone evaluation in China Sea”, putting forward a group of prior block with exploration potency and Oil & Gas vision area. Meanwhile, research on “Mesozoic Oil & Gas Resources
Capacity Evaluation in South of the East China Sea Basin” , the sub-project of the second batch National Oil & Gas special Subject has got a staged achievement which had passed the mid-term examination and appraisal that held by the Oil & Gas Center of Ministry of Land and Resources.

Shanghai Offshore Oil & Gas Company has involved in the development of Pinghu Oilfield. This oilfield is the first discovered and developed oilfield in the East China Sea, with an area of  240 km2 .It started to supply natural gas for Shanghai in April 1999. By the end of 2009, the accumulative production of oil and gas reached as 329.94×104 t and 44.16×108 m3 respectively. Focusing on the oil deposit of Huagang group in Pinhu Oil & Gas Field, Shanghai Offshore Oil & Gas Company launched pre-drilling estimation, MWD research and post-drilling appraisal on a multi-bottom, multi-branch horizontal well, the B02 well. It almost doubles the daily oil production through the successful operation of the B02 well.

The first phase of Chunxiao project of Xihu program was completed in Feb 8, 2006.

Shanghai Offshore Oil & Gas Company has conducted many overseas projects, mainly responsible for the technical supports to the overseas offshore projects, such as “Sahalin”, “Australia” “Nigeria” and etc.. In 2009, one of our main activity is on BOMU-1 well in JDZ-2 Block, Nigeria, including drilling-geology designing, engineering designing, analysis-while-drilling and researching on post-drilling reserve appraisal. The well gains a commercial oil & gas flow. It was the first breakthrough in oil and gas exploration in SINOPEC’S oversea deep water drilling operation. Another is the “Sahalin” project, it gains progress as well. After re-interpretate the Veni 3-D Seismic Data, the well location of the North Veni-3 Well was proposed and thus lays a foundation of a grand discovery of oil & gas. Five research project such as “the 3D Seismic Data acquisition scheme and technical designing of Australia NT/P76 Block” have also been successfully fulfilled which made the follow-up favorable trap evaluation more reasonable.

A series of achievements covering various fields such as coast investigation, sea bed mineral resources investigation, maritime space delimitation, sea bed sedimentary topography study ect. has been made by Shanghai Offshore Oil & Gas Company. More than 60 various awards has been granted to the Company by National science and technology committee, National development and reform commission, State Economic and Trade Commission, State Mineral Resource Commission, Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Finance, SINOPEC and Shanghai Municipal Government together with a honorable title of Notable Unit of Geological and Mineral Resources Exploration.
