SINOPEC Jianghan Oilfield Company (hereinafter referred to as Jianghan Oilfield Company) is located in the scenically beautiful and fertile Jianghan Plain, with the headquarter based in the national star city -- Qianjiang city, Hubei Province. It is bounded by the Han River on the north and by Yangtze River on the south, which is geographically advantageous and convenient in traffic, just 150 km east of Wuhan City, the thoroughfare leading to nine provinces, and 60 km west of the historially/culturally famous Jingzhou City.

The Jianghan Oilfield Company is engaged in exploration and development of oil and natural gas, forming 4 fields of exploration and development, including the Jianghan Oilfield in Hubei Province, Bamianhe Oilfield in Shandong Province,Pingbei Oilfield in Shaanxi Province, and Jiannan Gasfield in western Hubei-eastern Chongqing Municipality. By the end of 2007, the company has held 9 prospecting permits in China, where a total of 31 oilfields with a proved OOIP of 329 million tons, and one gasfield with a proved OGIP of 10.025 billion cubic meters have been discovered. It has produced accumulative crude oils of 48.017 million tons oil equivalent, including 1.62 million tons for oil and 102 million cubic meters for gas in 2007.

In the Jianghan Basin, salt and brine resources are prolific, with proved halite reserves of 790 billion tons and 100 billion cubic meters for bitter. Its subsidiary Jianghan Salt & Chemical Complex is capable of producing 4 series of more than 20 kinds of products, such as calcium hypochlorite, ion-membrane caustic soda, liquid chlorine, and refining salt. Its calcium hypochlorite is evaluated as a National Key New Product by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC, with an annual production up to 15000 tons, ranking the first in Asia and top three in the world, respectively. About 98£¥of the calcium hypochlorite production is sold to other countries. In addition, demands of caustic sode and liquid chlorine exceed their supply.

The Prolonged practices have allowed the company to own technologies throughout the hydrocarbon exploration process from selection of exploration plays, basin evaluation, to target drilling, as well as rich experience in engineering service, capable of independently develop large and medium-sized marine or continental oil and gas fields, complex fault-block oil and gas fields and extra-low permeability fields; a series of technologies for petroleum exploration and development with Jianghan-characteristics has been formed and growing, including techniques for exploration and development of continental complex fault-block reservoirs, marine carbonate reservoirs, subtle reservoirs in salt lake basins and marine reservoirs in South China; techniques for seismic acquisition and processing in various complex topographies, for development of low-permeability reservoirs. In 2007, our technique for separated layer water-flooding won the first award of scientific and technologic progress in SINOPEC.

In the latest three years during the Eleventh-Five-Year Plan, the company will thoroughly apply the scientific outlook on development, persist in sustainable coordinated development, actively implement 6 major strategies: resources broadening, market enlargement, talent development, brand management, administration innovation and enterprise culture, so as to promote the exploration breakthrough of marine gas and large discovery. We'll do all we can to obtain 3 million tons of oil equivalent by the end of the Eleventh-Five-Year Plan, speed up to construct the base for salt and brine chemistry, so as to construct a new oilfield company with developed economy, beautiful environment, complete facilities, benefit livings, prosperous culture£¬ good social order and harmonic interpersonal relations.
