SINOPEC Henan Oilfield Company, located in Nanyang Basin in the south of Henan province, a large state-owned enterprise with its headquarter in Guan Zhuang Town, Wancheng District of Nanyang City, totally covers eight counties and cities such as Nanyang, Zhumadian and Pingdingshan etc., has down its oil exploration and development in Kuerle city and four counties of Yanqi, Bohu, Hejing & Heshuo in Xinjiang Autonomous Region, owns ten subunits and gathers all top quality resources and good assets of Henan Oilfield, is engaged in oil and gas exploration, production, crude oil refining and petrochemistry.
Henan Oilfield Company started its oil and gas exploration in 1970. The commercial oil flow was found in Dongzhuang anticlinal structure, Nanyang sag of Nanyang-Xiangyang basin in August, 1971. On May 1, 1972, Nanyang Petroleum Exploration Headquarter was formally set up, and was renamed Henan Petroleum Exploration Bureau later. It was handed over to China Petrochemical Corporation in 1998 when SINOPEC and CNPC were reconstructed. Henan Oilfield Company was reconstructed as SINOPEC Henan Oilfield Company in October, 2000.
The exploration areas of Henan Oilfield Company are mainly located in Nanyang and Biyang , Henan Province. It also won the bidding for two risk exploration projects in Santanghu basin and Yanqi basin in Xinjiang Autonomous Region in 1993 and obtained the exploring right in Bayanhaote basin in Inner Mongolia Region in 1997. In February 2001, as SINOPEC obtained the exploring right in Tarim basin, Henan Oilfield Company began the exploration project in Takalamagan desert. And then the Company won the bidding for the rights of oil and gas exploration and evaluation in Sanjiang Basin in the early of 2004 and obtained the right of oil and gas exploration in Dunhua Basin in 2005. By the end of 2008, Henan Oilfield Company has discovered 15 Oilfields (including 2 Oilfields in the west of China), with a total oil and gas bearing area of 177 km 2 .The proven oil reserves in place is 299.23 million tons (oil equivalent) . During the process of oil and gas exploration, it also discovered the Anpeng natural sodium carbonate mine with reserves of 50 million tons in Biyang and the Zhongyuan halite field with reserves of 230 billion tons in Wuyang. In 1991 the Henan Oilfield Company was conferred by the state a title of National Meritorious Unit for Geological Survey . Up to now, the petroleum resource of the area run by the Henan Oilfield Company totals 737 million tons, which shows good future in oil and gas exploration.
Henan Oilfield Company embarked on Oilfield construction in 1977. Its Oilfields were officially put into development in 1978. The Oilfield development management of the company reached the advanced level at home. Then Shuanghe Oilfield (the biggest Oilfield of Henan Oilfield Company) was named the Oilfield with high speed and high efficiency by the former CNPC and SINOPEC for many times. The total oil production of Henan Oilfield Company was 1.805million tons in 2008. By the end of 2008, the oil output totally reached 65.7288 million tons produced by Henan Oilfield Company.
Nanyang Paraffin Wax Fine Chemical Plant of Henan Oilfield Company was built in 1975. Through successively development and technical innovation within 30 years, the Plant has become a multiple-producing refinery integrated with fuel, petrochemicals and lubricating oil (wax).
Henan Oilfield Company has established a perfect scientific and technological system at different levels with different subjects integrating science research, development and application of new technologies. The company has a set of advanced technologies in exploration and development for various types of reservoirs, in which the comprehensive and complete set of techniques for exploration in small-medium basins and high-resolution seismic survey technique are at the leading position of China . There are also some techniques at national advanced level as follows: Geo-chemical logging technique, the complete set of techniques for enhancing the recovery ratio of the flooded Oilfield. the complete set of techniques for high temperature polymer flooding, production technique for shallow and thin ultra-heavy oil reservoirs, the complete set of production techniques for water injection and production structure adjustment, the complete set of subdivision development techniques for thick reservoir, efficient HNS 3-phase separator, anti-theft1.14kv power equipment for pumping unit in energy conservation, drillable well bore coring tool and a series of rigs for well workover and drilling. All of these ensure that Henan Oilfield Company had the ability of developing Oilfields with high efficiency.

EXPLORATION
From 1970 to now, Henan Oilfield Company has down its oil exploration in the provinces such as Henan , Anhui , Jiangxi , Xinjiang Autonomous Region and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and discovered many oil & gas fields in Nanyang city, Biyang sag and Dongpu depression in Henan province and in Santanghu and Yanqi basin in Xinjiang Autonomous Region. Commercial oil and gas flow is found in cases for oil exploration in new basins and blocks when the first drilling made. The Henan Oilfield Company makes its contribution to development Chinese oil industry. The Henan Oilfield Company has formed the way of exploration for oil and gas in small-middle size basin and a complete system in exploration research and production control, both poses the characteristics of Henan Oilfield Company. Henan Oilfield Company also posses a complete exploration routine in basin evaluation, traps pre-exploration, oil & gas field discovery and reservoir description. Henan Oilfield Company has accumulated rich experience in exploration at various surface conditions (such as mountain, gobi, desert, swamp, lake, hill and plain, etc.), and has a powerful exploration capability. The company has all kinds of professional contingents of seismic, drilling, well logging, geological mud-logging and well-testing for exploration, and has completed acquisition and processing system of exploration information.
The main professional contingents and equipment for exploration are as follows: 8 seismic teams (including 1 VSP logging team) equipped with more advanced facilities such as wire-line digital seismic apparatus Model SN388, digital seismic apparatus Model 408 UL, digital seismic apparatus Model 428 UL , wire-line digital seismic apparatus Model ARIES , VSP seismic logging system, measuring apparatus Model Trimble5700, measuring apparatus Model Leica350, all of mentioned apparatus with advanced processing software and plotter program, and worksation with many sets of GRISYS6.1 processing software. 48 drilling teams, equipped with more advanced facilities such as top drive systems, 70D rigs driven by AC power, 70L rig, 50D rig driven by AC power, 50L rig and other kinds of equipment (MWD, gyroclinometer and rotating BOP system), having advanced technologies such as highly-deviated directional well drilling, horizontal well drilling, under-balanced drilling, well control and reservoir protection etc. 63 geological logging teams with equipments such as mud logging & drilling monitor unit, mud logging unit, geo-chemical logging unit, PK+OFA analyser, drilling time logging unit. 32 well-logging and perforating crews, equipped with advanced logging systems such as 5700 nuclear magnetic image logging system, 521 digital control logging system, 3700 digital control logging system, 9800 digital control logging system, DCLS-2000 production logging system, SK digital control logging system, SSC digital controlled logging system, AT+digital production logging system and SSQ-B digital control perforating-coring system.
OILFIELD DEVELOPMENT
Henan Oilfield Company has developed 14 Oilfields, of which 12 Oilfields are in Henan Province (8 low sulfur paraffin-base light-oil Oilfields and 4 asphalt-base heavy-oil Oilfields) and 2 black light-oil Oilfields in Xinjiang. The main development methods taken in these 2 areas are water flooding, steam injecting and polymer flooding.
A complete set of supporting technologies have been developed for thick inhomogeneous sandstone reservoirs, high solidification point reservoirs, complex fault reservoirs, shallow thin ultra-heavy oil reservoirs and low porosity and low permeability reservoirs. The technology in aspects of the high temperature polymer flooding, injection and production well pattern adjustment and shallow thin ultra-heavy oil reservoir development was awarded the prize of science and technology advancement by the state, the province and the ministry.
Three institutes, namely Petroleum E&D Research Institute, Petroleum Engineering Technology Research Institute, Reconnaissance Survey and Design Institute, contributed greatly in promoting the R&D and the application of new technologies, as well as guiding E&D study.
The crude oil produced in 12 Oilfields in eastern China (Henan Province) belongs to 2nd class, medium quality after being mixed. It has some characteristics: 1) high wax content. The content in the crude oil produced in Shuanghe Oilfield averages 32.8%; 2) low sulfur content. The content in Shuanghe crude oil is 0.1% on an average; 3) high freezing point; 4) Low light fraction ratio. The annual output is above 1.7 million tons.
The oil produced in 2 fields in western Oilfield, Xinjiang belongs to light crude oil with the characteristics of low density, low viscosity, low resin and asphalt, medium to high wax content, medium freezing point and no sulfur content. The annual output is more than 80,000 tons.
Oil Store and Transportation
A crude oil store and transportation system has been set up with 8 storage stations (three of them are five- star stations, five of them are four- star stations), 28 crude oil store tanks which keep a storage capacity of 45,000 to 135,000 tons, and 21 sets of oil transport pumps, 15 heating stoves of 2326kw, and 70km main oil transport pipeline that connects all the combined units in the Oilfield. All the produced oil has to become the part of the national planning program. About 1.04 million tons oil produced in eastern Oilfield ( Henan province) is sold to the Oil Store and Transport Branch Company through a pipeline between Weigang and Jingmen per year. About 0.57 million tons per year is sold to the Paraffin Fine Chemical Plant of Henan Oilfield. The oil produced in western area (Xinjiang), is being sold to Luoyang Branch Company via Kuerle train station (mainly by means of truck from site to Kuerle first). The annual sales volume is about 79,444 tons.
