SINOPEC Henan Oilfield Company (hereinafter referred to as Henan Oilfield Company), is a petrochemical conglomerate enterprise which is engaged in oil and gas exploration and producing, refining and petroleum engineering services with 15 subsidiaries. Its headquarters is located near Nanyang city in the southwest of Henan province and its main operation areas cover cities such as Nanyang, Zhumadian and Zhoukou in Henan province, and Bazhou, Yili in Xinjiang autonomous region.
Henan Oilfield Company always takes oil and gas exploration as its core business with priority. The exploration started in 1970 and the first commercial hydrocarbon flow was found in Dongzhuang structure, Nanyang sag in August, 1971，followed by subsequent discoveries in Biyang, Puyang and Yanqi basin, etc. On May 1, 1972, Nanyang Petroleum Exploration Headquarter was set up, and Henan Oilfield formally came into being. Chunguang block in Junggar basin in Xinjiang autonomous region was redistributed to Henan Oilfield in November, 2009. Up to the end of 2010, Henan Oilfield Company discovered 16 oil and gas fields in its operation blocks with oil-bearing area up to 202.47 Km2, the proved accumulative petroleum reserves has been up to 329.62 million ton (oil equivalent).The achievements of Henan Oilfield Company set an example of successful exploration in small and medium size basin in the country. As a result, it awarded the honors of “National Geology Exploration Contribution Enterprise” and “National Geology Exploration Advanced Collective”. Besides oil and gas, Henan Oilfield Company also discovered Anpeng alkali mine with OOIP over 50 million tons and Wuyang salt pan with OOIP up to 200 billion tons.
Henan Oilfield Company keeps improving its capacities of oil and gas development. Productivity Construction started on May 1, 1977 and development started in 1978, and in 1979 its annual output was 1.67 million tons which has made contribution to 100 million tons of national crude oil production at this year. Thus the name of Henan Oilfield Company was engraved on China Millennium Monument. It took 6 years to completely recover the investment since its oilfields were put on development. The production lasted 12 years with high-speed of more than 2% of oil production rate. Its main production oilfield, Shuanghe oilfield, was named as National High Exploiting Efficiency Oilfield for its recovery efficiency up to 44.7%. The crude oil annual production in 2010 reached 2.27 million tons with accumulative total output up to 69.87 million tons by the end of 2010. Nanyang Fine Wax Chemical Plant, one of its subsidiaries, built in 1975, has developed for over 30 years with constant improvement and technical innovation, now, has become a multiple-producing refinery integrated with fine wax, fuel, lubricating oil and petrochemicals.
Henan Oilfield Company continuously keeps cultivating its innovation ability. A multi-disciplinary and multi-level perfect matching technical system has been established integrating scientific research, development and application of new technology. A full set of advanced technology in exploration and development for various types of reservoirs has matured. Henan Oilfield Company has the ability of exploration on different petroleum reservoirs and the ability of developing for polytypic oil-gas fields. In exploration field serial technologies have come into being, which chiefly contain integration of 3D seismic exploration for shallow layers and exploration comprehensive supporting for complicated subtle reservoir. In development field, it has technologies such as EOR at high water-cut stage of production tail, tertiary oil recovery matching and heavy oil recovery matching for thin shallow layer. In drilling field, Henan Oilfield Company has technologies such as shallow horizontal well drilling, highly-deviated multi-target directional well drilling and ultra-high-temperature drilling fluid, etc. Variety of science research achievements reached national or international advanced level. During “National 11th Five-Year Plan” Henan Oilfield Company has won scientific and technology prize for 420 achievements, including 27 in provincial / ministry level and 393 in bureau level. 82 patented technologies have been applied for and 59 patents have been granted.
Henan Oilfield Company always keeps increasing its market competition ability. It possesses more than 220 petroleum engineering operating crews in all types and more than 2000 sets of different kinds of equipments. Henan Oilfield Company has the operating ability such as seismic acquisition under complex surface conditions (such as plain, desert, gobi and mountain, etc.), land drilling within 7000 meters for straight well, directional well, cluster well, sidetrack drilling and horizontal well drilling, surface construction and design for oilfield, Long distance pipeline and pressure container design and manufacture, etc. Bureau’s petroleum engineering market has expanded into 7 countries overseas and 16 provinces and regions at home, and market income increases rapidly. Bureau has set up a good brand image during the cooperation with Shell Oil Company and others.
Henan Oilfield Company constantly keeps upgrading its management. The fine management system with the core of “Economic and Technology Integration, Production Control fineness, Cost-Cutting and Beneficiation Programming, Grass-Roots Management Benchmarking” is being inquired and promoted. Ability of benefits creation of enterprise is growing. A collection of information application systems, represented by ERP and OA, has been established since 2005, as a result management and competitiveness of enterprise increased. Prizes of First Class Enterprise and Second Class Enterprise have been awarded by Henan province in 1987 and by nation in 1988. “Adaptation Strategic Management in Henan Oilfield” has won the second prize of national management innovation achievements. Henan Oilfield Company was named as Outstanding Contributions state-owned enterprise in the 30 years reform and opening up in Henan province in 2008, moreover, it was named as Information-Based A Class Enterprise of SINOPEC in 2009.
Henan Oilfield Company has fully fulfilled its social obligations. Focusing on the people, HSE security management system has been overall set up, and a long-term mechanism of persistent security has been established. Henan Oilfield Company was chosen as selected unit of SINOPEC HSE management system among oilfield enterprises, awarded as SINOPEC advanced unit of production safety and environments protection for several times. Energy-saving management system is being continuously strengthened and perfected. Clean-production is being constantly carried out. The aim of three wastes fully appropriate to the standard and total quantity of COD and SO2 reducing is being achieved. Bureau actively supports the local economy, gives its hand to combating floods and the disaster-relief work and building new countryside work, and practically fulfils its social duties as a state-owned enterprise.
