Sinopec Zhongyuan Oilfield Company (hereinafter referred to as Zhongyuan Oilfield) is a major oil and gas production base in eastern China, which is engaged in oil & gas exploration and exploitation, petrochemical processing, oil & gas marketing and is headquartered in Puyang city of Henan province in China. The main exploration and development areas include Dongpu depression, Puguang gas field in Sichuan and exploration area in Inner Mongolia. Zhongyuan.
Dongpu depression stretches over some regions of both Henan and Shandong province with an area of 5,300 km2, a proven original oil in place (OOIP) of 579 million tons and original gas in place (OGIP) of 131.746 billion cubic meters. Up to now, it has already produced crude oil of 126 million tons and natural gas of 32.744 billion cubic meters. In recent years, Zhongyuan Oilfield has been adhering to the main working principles of enhancing reservoir management, strengthening precise reservoir description, adjustment of different well patterns for development wells and integrated allocation of facilities, and as a result, the annual newly-found oil/gas reserves has increased by more than 10 million tons for four consecutive years, the natural declining rate has been reduced to 16.9%, the water-driven control and recoverable reserves has been greatly improved, and the stable production has been steadily guaranteed. In 2009, Zhongyuan Oilfield obtained the newly-found oil and gas reserves of 10.49 million tons, produced crude oil of 2.865 million tons and natural gas of 836 million cubic meters, and refined oil of 0.795 million tons.
Puguang gas field in northeastern Sichuan province is the largest marine gas field with rich abundance in China, covering an area of 102.87 km2 with a proven original gas in place (OGIP) of 405.079 billion cubic meters. At present, the optimization of its main development wells pattern and the work of its drilling operation have been completed. The construction of its gas gathering and transportation facilities has come to a successful end and that of its purification plant is in smooth progress, and the commissioning test running is being carefully and precisely performed. The whole gas field has already been built to be one with an annual gas production capacity of 10 billion cubic meters, and an annual gas production scale of 8 to 10 billion cubic meters will be maintained for the next 8 to 10 years.
The area of Inner Mongolia boasts the exploration acreage of more than 30,000 Km2 with an established oil production capacity of 1 billion tons per year. This new exploration block has abundant oil and gas resources with lower degree in exploration and is an important replacement field of oil and gas resources for Zhongyuan Oilfield.
Zhongyun Oilfield is one of the complex fault-block oil and gas fields in China and many problems encountered in its exploration and development are the’ international-level- difficult’ ones. For years, the oil field has been adhering to the concept of science and technology being the primary productive forces, and making every effort to intensify research efforts and strengthen management of scientific research, and as a result bringing into being a big series of core technologies which includes 3 sub-series in exploration, 5 sub-series in development, 8 sub-series in petroleum engineering services and 8 sub-series in development of high sulfurous gas field, of which many technologies have reached the domestic or internationally advanced level. Now, the two major scientific research projects it undertakes<<Technology on Safe and Efficient Development of High-sulfurous Gas Field>> and<< Pilot Project for Development of a Large High-sulfurous Gas Field in Puguang in Sichuan Basin>> are being smoothly implemented.
Zhongyuan Oilfield has been working to improve on its operational mechanism and precision management, and has regarded such a process of improvement as its eternal pursuit, bringing into being a management model with its unique characteristics. It has also been making constant improvement on the five operational mechanisms in reservoir management as well as the management style of Puguang “Oil Company”, gradually strengthening the long-term control mechanism of investment and cost budget and the pentad monitoring system of internal control, auditing, monitoring, checking and legal supervision, which have constantly improved the efficiency of production operation and standardized management.
At present, Zhongyuan Oilfield has entered a new stage for development and a good momentum is shown in all aspects of its work. It will vigorously carry out the resource strategy, science strategy and talent strategy, coordinate the orderly and effective operations of precision management, safety, environment protection, energy conservation and emission reduction, promote the stable production in Dongpu depression, safe development in Puguang gas field, and fast construction of production capacity in Inner Mongolia in order to finally reach its goal of establishing three major oil and gas production bases. Constant efforts will also be made to make the whole oil field an enterprise featuring a scientific management system of rigorousness, quick-response and high-efficiency, and to promote its precision management to a new level.
