SINOPEC Shanxi Branch Company, allocating and supplying oil products throughout Shanxi Province, is the largest oil products sales company in Shanxi Province, main business covering sales of gasoline, diesel oil, kerosene and lubricating oil. SINOPEC Shanxi Branch grew out of Shanxi Provincial Petroleum Head Company, which was established in April 1950. Keeping up with the national economic adjustment, the name of the company had been changed accordingly several times. In June 1998, it was put under the leadership of the present China Petrochemical Group Company. In April 2000, SINOPEC Shanxi Branch Company was formally established, on the basis of the strategic restructure of former Shanxi Provincial Petroleum Head Company.

In 2007, SINOPEC Shanxi Branch Company made great improvement by penetration into the practice and  innovation. According to the request of building modern enterprise system and strategy of “intensive inside and marketing outside”, SINOPEC Shanxi Branch Company implemented all the business strategies of the head company. By the end of 2007, SINOPEC Shanxi Branch Company sold 3332.5 thousand tons oil products, increased by 268.8 thousand tons compared with the year of 2006, which made a new sales record.
