From November 1990, Mr. Zhang acted as Deputy Director General of Bureau of Oil Geology and Marine Geology of Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources. From February 1994, he was also appointed as Secretary of the Party Committee of the Bureau. From June 1997, he acted as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Vice President of Sinopec Star Petroleum Co., Ltd. From April 2000, he acted as Assistant to President of Sinopec Group and President of Sinopec Star Petroleum Co., Ltd. From August 2000, he served as Secretary of the Party Committee of Sinopec Star Petroleum Co., Ltd. From July 2001, he acted as Vice President of Sinopec Group. From May 2009, Mr. Zhang served as Vice Chairman of Sinopec Corp.
